Target Component Positions Dialog

The positions of key points on each object can be viewed in any one of the following coordinate systems:

In the case of a diagnostic port or laser beam port, the coordinate system is oriented such that the origin is at target chamber center, the z-axis points directly at the port center, the x-axis is horizontal, and the y-axis is in a generally upward direction.

To view the Target Component Positions Dialog, select View | Target Component Positions.

Alternatively, the positions of the key points of a particular target component can be displayed by selecting the () tool button on the right side of the main window, and then selecting the target component in the Main Graphics Frame. When this is done, the key points are displayed in various colors in the Main Graphics Frame and their positions are shown in the Target Component Positions Dialog as colorized text.

In additions to the centroid positions of each object, the corner positions of Rectangles and Boxes are shown, as are the Top and Bottom positions of Cylinders, Cones, and Spheres, and the Top, Bottom, Leftmost, and Rightmost positions of Toruses.

The positions can be displayed in one of the following coordinate systems:

Thus, to display the (r,θ,φ) coordinates of the key points of each object in the Target Chamber coordinate system, select Target Chamber for the Type of Coordinate System, and select the Spherical button.

"Corner" points are identified by the octant or quadrant at which they appear when the centroid is at the origin.  For example, "Corner +++" refers to the point of the box that is in the +x, +y, +z octant. Note that it is possible to display the coordinate system axes for individual target components as a visual aid.
